Phyllis Schreiber and PS Jewelry Works

PS Jewelry Works is my design studio. I have been working in wearable art since the early 1970’s, when I first started designing beaded jewelry and macramé (I’m dating myself!). I attended the University of Delaware and attended art classes at Penn State University. I have studied with a variety of artists and crafts people
in both the U.S. and Canada. I have lived in Delaware, State
College, PA, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Philadelphia. Each place,
and the crafts people there, have helped shape my work.
I opened my first store in Newark, DE, in 1976. My creations have been featured in a variety of galleries and art shows, including: the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts; The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts; the Gallery at Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s house in western Pennsylvania; the Ward Ellinger Gallery in Rehoboth Beach, DE; and a variety of galleries around Toronto, Canada.
My design inspiration has come primarily from nature or from items that are near and dear to me or to friends and family. I live in Philadelphia during most of the year and at Bethany Beach, DE, during the summer. My inspirations typically come from nature around me. I have used Ginkgo leaves from trees near my home in Philadelphia; sea shells that my children have gathered over the years from beaches throughout the east coast; and shells that were collected in the
New York and New Jersey beaches by a late uncle of one of my dearest friends.
I also am fascinated by objects that are part of someone’s history.
